techno.fyi is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no forms, no comments and no analytics, so the site itself asks you for nothing and stores nothing about you.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this site is techno.fyi, operated from the United Kingdom. Contact privacy@techno.fyi. If you want to exercise any of the rights below, that address is the route.
What the site collects
Nothing directly. There is no analytics script, no tracking pixel of its own, no newsletter signup and no login.
Two other parties do process data when you visit.
- GitHub
- The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub receives your IP address and browser user agent in order to serve the page to you, and keeps server logs for security and abuse handling. That processing is covered by GitHub's own privacy statement.
- The site is intended to show advertising through Google AdSense. That is not active yet, and until it is, nothing here contacts Google. See below.
Advertising and cookies
Once advertising is enabled, third parties including Google will use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
Google's use of advertising cookies will let it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google's ads settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Consent
When advertising is switched on, visitors in the UK and the EEA will see a consent message before any personalised advertising runs. It is served through Google's certified consent management platform. Whatever you choose is stored in your browser and sent to advertising vendors as your consent signal.
You can change or withdraw that choice at any time. Clearing this site's cookies in your browser will make the message appear again on your next visit.
Withdrawing consent does not remove advertising. It means the advertising you see is not personalised.
Lawful basis
Consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, will be the basis for advertising and any associated cookies or identifiers. No such processing is happening at present.
GitHub's processing of your IP address to deliver the page rests on legitimate interests, because a web server cannot return a page without knowing where to send it.
How long data is kept
Nothing is retained by this site, because nothing is collected by it.
Retention for advertising data, once advertising runs, is set by Google and its advertising partners rather than by this site. Their periods are documented in the Google policies linked above. Your consent choice stays in your browser until you clear it.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, correction of it, erasure of it, restriction of how it is processed, and portability of it. You can object to processing, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Because this site holds no personal data itself, a request about advertising data is usually one to put to Google directly, since Google determines what is collected and how it is used. Write to the address above and we will point you to the right place.
If you are unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, the UK supervisory authority.
